I first met Sylvia at Sydney’s first Yom Hashoah where my daughter spoke about Philip Riteman and the Holocaust. After that we were friends and worked together each year on Holocaust Memorial Day. Sylvia was a wonderful person and I miss her.
Sylvia was the oldest daughter of Newman and Esther(Goldman) Dubinsky. She married Louie Allan of New Waterford. I remember her assisting Rabbi Kenner and his choir when I was younger. She sang, played piano, wrote music, and taught music. She eventually directed the Choir at Temple Sons Of Israel in Sydney after Rabbi Kenner retired. She also directed a choir in Sydney of a non jewish organization and was known as a very talented person in a wide circle of people.
She died of cancer in 2007.
