From Obituary, Sydney Memorial Chapel: With great sadness, we announce the passing of Reva (Brook) Nathanson, at her home in Toronto on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 10:30 p.m., with her family at her side. Reva was the beloved spouse and lifelong companion of Norris L. Nathanson of Sydney, NS. Born in Sydney on May 31, 1932, she was the eldest child of the late Abraham and Celia (Gutzeit) Brook. Reva was devoted to her husband, family and communities. She was a founding Trustee of Cape Breton University, an active leader in national and local Hadassah-Wizo Canada, and the annual Cape Breton Bazaar. She partnered with Norris and his brother Marven in the development of broadcasting in Cape Breton where CJCB AM, CKPE FM and CJCB Television were mainstays in the lives of all Cape Bretoners. Reva will be remembered for her poise, warmth and grace, her generous spirit, and fine cooking and boundless hospitality. Reva is survived by her devoted daughters, Lynn Nathanson (Ted Rozsa) and Gail Nathanson; grandchildren, Jennifer (Pandiscio) Zallen (Jeremy) and Jill Pandiscio; and sister, Lila (Brook) Greenberg (Jerry); and nieces and nephews, Ken Nathanson (Joe MacDonald), Alaine Greenberg (Rand Smith), Alan Greenberg, Hannah Brook (Jeff Peskin) and Adam Brook (Anna). In addition to her parents, Reva was predeceased by her husband, Norris L. Nathanson; her brother, Marven Brook; and Marven’s son, Jason.
